Let me preface this by saying that I'm very thankful for our car. It's totally paid for, and we've had to put very little into it. That said, this car has lots of character.
Only one window rolls down, the rear passenger side. This becomes problematic in a black car with weak AC in Florida. It's also problematic after Mexican food.
Both doors on the passenger side don't open from the inside. This means whoever drives has to let out the other grown up. Joel always seems to drive, and I think it's because he's embarrassed for me to come around and let him out.
The windsheild wipers don't work. I'm wondering if our investment in Rain-X has surpassed the actual cost to just fix the wipers.
The back window doesn't stay up. I won't let grocery store baggers help me for fear my window will knock them unconscious. We did finally get a long squeegee that doubles as a window-holder-upper. Not sure why it took us two years to figure out that solution.
The radio sound only comes out of one speaker. The crazy thing is that Joel was seriously considering fixing the radio. Spending money to fix the radio when the doors don't open. I convinced him that if I'm flying off a bridge I'd prefer doors that open to a radio that works. He convinced me that's a crazy argument. We haven't fixed either.
The cherry on top of all of this, is that with all this quirkiness, the car still thinks it's got it goin' on. With babies, bags and sippy cups in arms, I reached into the one window that rolls down to unlock the door and the alarm goes off. Doors don't open, windows don't roll down, wipers don't work, back window is a serious safety hazard - but the alarm works. It continued while I fumbled for my keys amidst the kids and falling toys.
All I could think was "who would actually try to steal this car??!!"
Apparently the car feels it's worth a working alarm. I guess I have to admire that sort of self-confidence.
