Sifting Out the Best from the Good

Written by Tara, Posted in Motherhood, Miscellaneous, Adoption

The past couple weeks, every time my head hits the pillow, one thought runs through my head.

I failed today.

I am not into ending my day this way, yet I can't seem to shake it.

Top Ten Things I Try NOT to Think About at the Water Park

Written by Tara, Posted in Motherhood

A Part of Top Ten Tuesday

We've been hitting the water park a lot this summer. It's a blast, but if I'm honest - it seriously has the potential to gross me out. I have to make a concerted effort to keep my mind on the slides and off of the bodily fluids.

I'm warning you, this post is gross…it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and I'm not really sure why I'm torturing myself like this.

An Hour Play-By-Play

It's Like the Show 24, Only Less Entertaining

An hour from our afternoon:

12:58 I secured Big E, Super C and Cutie Q (the 1 year old I babysit) in the car with lunch to go. We were headed to the library because I had 2 things on reserve that I was excited to pick up. I figured we'd hit the children's fountain afterward.

VBS Bliss

The kids are in VBS this week. It's the first time the two of them have both been in any sort of "school." As a mom who is planning to homeschool, I'm a little concerned by how much I'm enjoying it.

My Mother-In-Law

Written by Tara, Posted in Motherhood

If you talk to enough married women, you will soon find that the relationship between a woman and her husband’s mother can be complicated. While my mother-in-law and I haven't escaped some of those complications, I am blessed to have a wonderful Mother-in-Law, Sue. Our relationship hasn’t been all unicorns and rainbows, but in some ways that’s why I love her so much.

Unmet Expectations Aren’t Always a Bad Thing

Written by Tara, Posted in Motherhood

mothersdayseriesI always dreamed of being a mother, for as long as I can remember.

When I became pregnant, I was beyond excited.  My husband and I chose to deliver our baby in a beautiful, quaint birthing center.  I spent my days reading up on breastfeeding, birth and attachment parenting.

Our ultrasound revealed that we were having a boy!  A few weeks later we needed another ultrasound because of some strange measurements.  The measurements were fine – but it was discovered that our son would be born with a cleft lip and palate.
